Fresh Fish Curry

This flavourful fish curry kept the whole family coming back for more!


  • 500g hake, kingclip or salmon

  • 1-1 and 1/2 cups peppers, cut into chunks

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 1 can reduced fat coconut oil

  • 1 tomato, chopped

  • 1/2 orange, squeezed

  • 3-4 garlic cloves, grated

  • 1 tbsp masala spice

  • 1 tbsp thyme

  • 1 tsp fish masala

  • 1 tsp ginger, grated

  • 1/4 Chilli, chopped (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Oil for cooking


  1. All middle steps Add oil, onion, ginger and garlic in a medium pot on medium heat. Sautée the onions until they're soft.

  2. Add thyme and masala and fry for five more minutes.

  3. Add fish and stir until combined.

  4. Add coconut milk and stir. Allow it to simmer for five to ten minutes.

  5. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Serve with rice or umngqusho and plenty of vegetables
